Mission Statement
The mission of Unity Christian School is to nurture children of Bible believing parents with an education that is founded on the infallible and inerrant Word of God, and to lead them to respond to God in faith and service. This central goal will guide students to:
- Know Christ as their personal Savior.
- Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their calling in modern society.
- Gain a deep respect fro God and Christian morals.
- Develop a servant's heart.
Purpose
Unity Christian School believes children must receive the high test level of education possible. The curriculum is very demanding; every facet of education is of the highest quality. Resources are chosen from a variety of publishers, selecting the best programs and books, and blended together into a cohesive, high-quality curriculum. Unity is not simply an outstanding school educationally; it is distinctively Christian. Unity's underlying philosophy of education is based upon Biblical principles. Children are taught to view every part of life and education from the perspective of faith in God. Education, then, is not simply the passing on of facts, but every subject is taught from the viewpoint that God has given mankind the ability to understand His creation through the proper application of all subject areas.
History
In 1981, the vision of a Christian school became a reality as Unity Christian School of Momence opened its doors. Thirteen students and a teacher/administrator began meeting in the lover level of the Momence Christian Reformed Church. In November of 1989, Unity moved to a new 6,000 square foot building located on six acres along the West edge of Momence. In 1990, the school received its State Recognition as a non-public school. In 1995, two additional classrooms were added, one to serve as the library and the other as a classroom. In 2007, Unity celebrated its 25th year of performing Christ work, and is looking forward to many more through God's continued faithfulness.
Staff
Unity Christian School has a staff of dedicated teachers. Each one is a committed Christian and a member of the Reformed church. Each has received his or her bachelors or masters degree.
Parental Involvement
All parents are encouraged to get acquainted with the teachers and to visit when school is in session. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved both in and out of the classroom.
Curriculum
The curriculum at Unity Christian School is designed to meet the standards of Christian School International(CSI) and of the Illinois State Board of Education. The principal meets regularly with principals of nearby CSI to discuss curriculum changes and content. Each year some part of the curriculum is examined by the staff and education committee, who make recommendations to the school board for improvement of instruction.
Outside Activities
Extracurricular activities are necessary in order to give a well-rounded education and to enrich and give meaning to what is taught in the classroom. Such activities include Science Fairs, Young Authors' Competition, Math competitions, Spelling and Geography Bees, IESA Music competitions. Field trips are made each year to enhance the learning process as well.
Sports
Sports such as volleyball, softball, basketball, and cheer-leading are played in co-operation with the St. Patrick's Academy. St. Patrick's Academy is located less than a mile east of Unity.

In 2004-2005, Unity passed its on-site inspection and received continuing stats as a non-public school.
